Epilogue
The Weasel Has the Last Word
My trip with those four troublemakers was certainly transformative. Just have a look at me before and during the journey.

I especially like the photo with the boys dressed in suits and ties and me with my maps, place names, dates, and weasel tattoo. To me, it is a family portrait.

The transformation was more than skin deep. The way Brian, Mike, Bob, and Roger grew during our trip should be an inspiration to anyone who has struggled in school. Persist and never give up on something that sparks your passion. If teachers and others tell you you’re not good enough for a job, college education, or profession, prove them wrong. Schools rarely teach in a way that works for everyone, particularly visual learners and those with reading disabilities who have little chance in courses based on reading and rote memorization.
Our trip happened during a different time. It makes me sad that today’s kids experience the world mostly through smartphones and screens. If they could just find their own Weasel, set a plan and budget, travel with their friends, and talk about things with meaning, the world might be a better place. Sure, the travels will be difficult at times, and they might lose their way along the road, but the experience will change their lives.
